“Development of the Neva. Fortress on Orekhovoy Island. Historical, military-defensive and
archaeological monument"

The conference was attended by representatives of the administration of St. Petersburg, members of the Board of Trustees of the State Museum of History of St. Petersburg (GMI St. Petersburg), directors and staff of museums, historians, archaeologists, and local historians. The guests were addressed by the General Director of GMI St. Petersburg, Vladimir Kirillov, and the Deputy General Director for organizing the activities of the GMI St. Petersburg branch network, director of the Fortress Oreshek branch, Sergei Orlov.

At the meeting, a solemn ceremony of special cancellation of the postage stamp “700 years of the Oreshek Fortress”, issued for the anniversary, took place.

At the conference, aspects related to the historical, cultural, architectural, fortification, and archaeological study of the Oreshek fortress were considered, as well as issues of restoration and museumification of the monument were raised.
